Montgomery County Recreation Department Set to Kick Off 100 Mile Challenge (PHOTO)
Montgomery County Recreation’s 100 Mile Challenge is scheduled to start on January 20th at the Holiday Recreation Park Center in Wheaton. The event will be from 7 to 9 p.m. and will feature speakers including, Mt. Everest climbers Nicky and Bob Lowry.
According to a news release, the event will also feature a healthy tasting reception, teen fitness activities, a Zumba dance group activity, and more.
The challenge is sponsored by ABC7, Bethesda Magazine and Bethesda Beat. The goal of the program is to complete 100 miles (or more) in 100 days.
The program is self-reporting and residents are encouraged to participate individually, in family groups or friend groups. Participants can even include their pet dog. 20 minutes of continuous physical activity also counts as one mile.
Residents can register at ACTIVEMONTGOMERY.org using activity #12252, those registering online will be sent tracking logs. Participants will be eligible for weekly prizes throughout the 100 day challenge.
There will be a Move More Montgomery Festival with major grand prizes on April 30th, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Bauer Drive Community Recreation Center.
