Montgomery County Records 328 New COVID-19 Cases, 11 Deaths Thursday

The Maryland Department of Health reported 328 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Thursday morning bringing the county’s cumulative case count is 55,531.
Montgomery County recorded 11 new coronavirus-related fatalities Thursday, bringing the death toll to 1,212.
The county reported Jan. 19 that 279 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19. Hospitalizations continue to be at the highest level since May.
The county has a rate of 6.6% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is a slight decrease of 0.04 from Wednesday’s rate of 6.64%. The county’s positivity rate is lower than in 21 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions.
Montgomery County leads the state in total COVID-19 related fatalities. Prince George’s County has the second-highest number with 1,166 fatalities and the most coronavirus cases in the state with 64,355 cases.
Allegany County in the western region of the state has the most cases per capita at 85.1 cases per 1,000 residents. Somerset County has the second-highest per capita cases with 83 cases per 1,000 residents.

Thursday the state recorded 2,166 new infections. The new cases bring the state’s cumulative case count to 334,519.
On Thursday, the state reported 1,812 patients were hospitalized across the state with the virus. While the number hospitalized with COVID-19 has dropped from the pandemic high of 1,957 on Jan. 11, the number of hospitalizations remains at the highest levels since the start of the pandemic.
Thursday the state recorded 46 newly reported deaths, bringing the state death toll 6,560.
The state reported a rate of 7.66% for positive COVID-19 tests Thursday. This is a decrease of 0.1 from Wednesday’s rate of 7.76%.
