Montgomery County Receives Recognition for Financial Transparency
Montgomery County Government earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).
The county has received this award 45 times and consecutively for 43 years since 1972.
“It is an honor to receive this national recognition for the County’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. Under the leadership of our Finance director, Joe Beach, the County continues to serve our residents with consistent and outstanding comprehensive financial reporting,” said County Executive Isiah Leggett.
According to a news release, this award represents the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, as well as a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. No other county in the nation holds as many awards in this category as Montgomery County.
GFOA is a nonprofit organization that serves approximately 17,500 government finance professionals in the U.S.
