Montgomery County Police Crime Summary for Jan. 8-16

Thefts from Vehicles Summary:

Bethesda District:

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between Jan. 8 and Jan. 15. Affected streets included Cummings Lane, Rollingwood Drive, Chevy Chase Lake and Donnybrook drives, and the 3500-4100 blocks of Leland Street. Force was reported in multiple events; cash and property were taken.

Four thefts from vehicles occurred during this reporting period. Affected streets included Duvall and Brookside drives, River Road, and Wapakoneta Road. No force; property was taken.

Silver Spring District:

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred during this reporting period. Affected streets included Bonifant, Cameron, Newell and Riply streets; Colesville and Piney Branch roads; East West Highway, and Eastern Avenue. Force was reported in two events; cash and property were taken. Police arrested a 19-year-old man from Oxon Hill and an 18-year-old man from Washington, D.C. in the Cameron Street theft.

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between Jan. 9 and Jan. 15. Affected streets included Pershing and Hildarose drives; Dartmouth Avenue; Westview Court; Roeder and Stockton roads; and Evergreen Street. Force was reported in two events; cash and property were taken.

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between about 6 p.m. Jan. 10 and about 9:23 a.m. Jan. 11. Affected streets included Branch, Sutherland, Williamsburg, Lynmoore and Eastmoor drives; Rogart Road; and Stirling Road. No force; cash and property were taken.

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between Jan. 12 and Jan. 15. Affected streets included Bald Hill and Castlemoor courts, Castle Way, Aldora Circle, and Wildlife Lane. Force was reported in one event; property was taken.

Wheaton District:

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred during this reporting period. Affected streets included Bel Pre and Janet roads, Georgia Avenue, and Drake Drive. No force; cash and property were taken.

Four thefts from vehicles occurred between about 7:30 a.m. and about 6:45 p.m. Jan. 15. Three thefts occurred in the 10900 block of Georgia Avenue and one theft occurred in the 11000 block of Veirs Mill Road. Force was reported in two events; cash and property were taken.

Germantown District:

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between about 7:30 p.m. Jan. 12 and about 11 a.m. Jan. 13 in the 18000 block of Cottage Garden Drive and in the 100 block of Stags Leap Court. No force; cash and property were taken.

Montgomery Village District:

Two thefts from vehicles occurred in the 9000 block of Centerway Road during this reporting period. Force; property was taken.

Other arrests and incidents:

Rockville District:

Police arrested a 59-year-old Gaithersburg man for residential burglaries at the same home in the 13400 block of Cleveland Drive. The burglaries occurred:

  • In the early morning hours of Jan. 10. Forced entry; keys were taken.
  • At about 2:17 p.m. Jan. 12. No signs of forced entry, the suspect used the keys taken in the previous burglary; property was taken.

Two men — one aged 25, the other aged 29 to 35 — are wanted in connection with an armed robbery in the 15200 block of Shady Grove Road at about 5:15 p.m. Jan. 15. One man displayed a weapon. The men took another man’s cash.

A residential burglary occurred in the 17000 block of Hughes Road between about 12 p.m. Jan. 15 and about 5:30 p.m. Jan. 16. Forced entry; nothing was taken.

Bethesda District:

A residential burglary occurred in the 4100 block of Aspen Street between about 10 p.m. Jan. 8 and about 8 p.m. Jan. 9. No signs of forced entry; property was taken.

Silver Spring District:

A residential burglary occurred in the 1400 block of Blair Mill Road between about 12 p.m. Jan. 12 and about 3:30 p.m. Jan. 15. No signs of forced entry; property was taken.

Police want two people, one a man, in connection with an armed robbery in the area of Fenton Street and Thayer Avenue in the early morning hours of Jan. 13. One person displayed a weapon and took another man’s property.

A residential burglary occurred in the 8800 block of Colesville Road between about 7 a.m. Jan. 10 and about 2 p.m. Jan. 12. No signs of forced entry, the victim reported losing her keys; property was taken.

A man attempted an armed robbery in the area of Forest Glen Road and Burnett Avenue about 7:35 p.m. Jan. 11. The suspect displayed a weapon and attempted to take the two people’s cash.

A man attempted a residential burglary in the 1000 block of Quebec Terrace in the early morning hours of Jan. 13.

A man, between the ages of 20 and 29, committed an armed robbery in the 9300 block of Piney Branch Road at about 7:48 p.m. Jan. 13. The man displayed a weapon and took another man’s property.

A man committed an armed carjacking in the 9700 block of Armistead Road about 6:41 a.m. Jan. 16. The man displayed a weapon and took the another man’s vehicle.

An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 11400 block of December Way between about 6 p.m. and about 7 p.m. Jan. 14.

Men, between the ages of 18 and 20, and a 16-year-old boy committed a strong-arm robbery in the 14300 block of Beaker Court in the early morning hours of Jan. 14. The culprits assaulted a man and took his cash and property.

A 21-year-old man committed an attempted armed robbery in the 13700 block of Old Columbia Pike about 9:45 p.m. Jan. 15. The man displayed a weapon and tried to take the property of two other men.

Wheaton District:

A residential burglary occurred in the 14900 block of Notley Road between about 10 a.m. and about 2:30 p.m. Jan. 11. No signs of forced entry; property was taken.

An armed robbery occurred in the 3300 block of Weeping Willow Court about 6:48 p.m. Jan. 11. The culprits assaulted the adult male victim and took his property.

A vehicle theft occurred in the 3500 block of Greenly Street between about 1 a.m. Jan. 11 and about 10 a.m. Jan. 12. Unknown entry.

An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 11600 block of Veirs Mill Road between about 8 a.m. and about 2:27 p.m. Jan. 9.

A residential burglary and a vehicle theft occurred at the same home in the 10900 block of Rampart Way between about 3 p.m. and about 7:30 p.m. Jan. 15. No signs of forced entry, a door was reported to have been left unlocked; property taken, keys to the vehicle were also taken and used to steal the vehicle.

Germantown District:

Residential burglaries occurred in the following areas:

  • In the 13100 block of Briarcliff Terrace between about 8:45 a.m. and about 8:15 p.m. Jan. 12. Forced entry; property was taken.
  • In the 20600 block of Shadyside Way between about 9:30 a.m. and about 7 p.m. Jan. 12. Forced entry; property was taken.

A residential burglary occurred in the 13800 block of Rockingham Road between about 7:50 a.m. and about 5:30 p.m. Jan. 10. No signs of forced entry, a door was reported to have been left unlocked; property was taken.

An attempted commercial burglary occurred at the Kingsview Liquor and Wine at 18323 Leman Farm Road between about 9:30 p.m. Jan. 13 and about 9:30 a.m. Jan. 14.

Montgomery Village District:

Police seek two men in connection with an aggravated assault in the 18200 block of Contour Road about 8:46 p.m. Jan. 12. One man displayed a weapon. The culprits assaulted another man.

Police seek a man for a commercial armed robbery at the Weis Market at 883 Russell Ave. about 8:01 a.m. Jan. 13. The man displayed a weapon and stole food.

A commercial burglary occurred at the Jasmine Bakery Cafe at 18503 N. Frederick Ave. between about 9:15 p.m. Jan. 15 and about 10:57 a.m. Jan. 16. Forced entry; cash was taken.

Police seek a 14-year-old boy in connection with an attempted strong-arm robbery of a food delivery driver in the 8100 block of Chelaberry Court about 4:54 p.m. Jan. 14. The boy assaulted the adult male driver and tried to take his cash.
