County Leaders to Take Part in State Minimum Wage Roundtable

Two Montgomery County leaders will participate in a women’s roundtable discussion on the raising the minimum wage hosted by Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown in Annapolis on April 1. 

Valerie Ervin, former councilmember and current Executive Director of the Center for Working Families, and Dr. DeRionne P. Pollard, President of Montgomery College, will take park in the discussion at noon in the State House Governor’s Reception room.

The roundtable will focus on how raising the minimum wage to $10.10 would affect women in Maryland.

In addition to Ervin and Pollard, the Lt. Governor will be joined by Senators Nancy King and Catherine Pugh, Delegates Aisha Braveboy and Joseline Pena-Melnyk, Sheila Brooks, founder and CEO of SRB Communications, Barbara Goldberg Goldman, president of Regal Domestics, and advocates from the Raise Maryland Coalition.

Ervin was a member of the Montgomery County Council during their historic vote in November to raise the minimum wage from  $7.25 to $11.50 in four phases, with the final phase ending in 2017.
