Montgomery County Has Most One-Day Coronavirus Cases Since Late July
The Maryland Department of Health reported 159 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Friday morning. This is the largest daily increase in more than two months; 171 new cases were reported on July 31. The cumulative case count is now 24,174.
The county has a rolling seven-day average of 2.42% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is a lower rate than 16 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions.
There were no COVID-19 related fatalities reported Friday, therefore the pandemic death toll remains at 820.
Montgomery County continues to lead the state in fatalities. At 817 Prince George’s County has a slightly lower number of coronavirus related deaths but has over seven thousand more coronavirus cases in total since March.
Friday the state recorded 781 new infections, bringing its total to 134,329. Four new deaths were reported Friday, making the pandemic death toll 3,887.
The state reported a rolling seven-day average of 3.09% for positive COVID-19 tests Friday. This the third straight day the average remains above 3%.
