The cost of child care is a major expense for families and the WPA program provides subsidies to help eligible single and two-parent families pay for licensed child care.

The WPA program currently has a waiting list and all applicants will be served in order of the wait list. The program will begin serving parents from the waiting list in December and will continue to serve additional families as current funding allows.

To qualify, single parents are required to pursue child support payments through the legal system. Applicants must work and/or attend school at least 25 hours per week.

The new income guidelines are as follows:

Family Size Minimum Income Maximum Income
2 $24,278 $51,360
3 $29,991 $57,780
4 $35,703 $64,200
5 $41,415 $69,360
6 $47,128 $74,520

Applicants with incomes below the minimum income for WPA will be forwarded an application for the Maryland Child Care Subsidy Program.
