County Executive Ike Leggett, local officials and Vietnam War veterans will dedicate the Montgomery County Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall on Monday, May 21 at 1 p.m.

The wall pays tribute to the 130 residents from Montgomery County who served in Vietnam but never returned home. The Office of Veterans Affairs maintains a list of County residents who lost their lives or were declared missing in the Vietnam War.

Each of the County’s fallen or missing heroes will be honored for their sacrifice and service to our country at the ceremony. In addition, there will be a wreath-laying ceremony and remarks from Vietnam Veterans.

A plaque honoring all Montgomery County residents who served our country during the Vietnam War era, 1955 – 1975, will be unveiled at the ceremony and those who served will be recognized.

“These fallen heroes will not be forgotten,” said Leggett. “This Memorial Wall will serve as a monument to the Montgomery County residents who died or were reported missing in action while serving our country in the Vietnam War. We remember their sacrifices with honor and gratitude.”

Montgomery County is inviting family members and friends of these fallen heroes to participate in the May 21st dedication ceremony.  For more information and to RSVP, call Community Outreach Manager Betsy Tolbert Luecking at the Commission on Veterans Affairs at 240.777.1256 or send an email to Betsy.Luecking@montgomerycountymd.gov.

Montgomery County Government will also honor and pay tribute to the 11,313 Veterans who are now living in the County who served our country during the Vietnam War era, 1955 – 1975.

Memorial Plaza in Rockville is located adjacent to the Executive Office Building at 101 Monroe Street. The Memorial Plaza was dedicated in November of 2014.
