Montgomery County Daily COVID-19 Cases Top 400 for 5th Straight Day

The Maryland Department of Health reported 402 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Tuesday morning. The county’s cumulative case count is 36,851. The number of daily new cases has been above 400 for the fifth consecutive day.

The county has a rolling seven-day average of 5.98% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is a decrease of 0.50 from Monday’s average rate of 6.48%. The county’s positivity rate is lower than in 21 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions.

Montgomery County recorded three new coronavirus-related fatalities Tuesday, bringing the death toll to 949.

Montgomery County leads the state in total COVID-19 related fatalities; Prince George’s County has 937 fatalities and the most coronavirus cases in the state with 44,894 cases.

Tuesday the state recorded 2,632 new infections. This is the 34th consecutive day the state recorded more than a thousand new cases in one day. The state’s cumulative case count is 219,961.

COVID-19 related hospitalizations continue to climb. On Tuesday, the state reported 1,653 patients were hospitalized across the state with the virus. This is the highest number since May 9 when 1,665 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19.

Tuesday the state recorded 50 newly reported deaths, bringing the state death toll to 4,755.

The state reported a rolling seven-day average of 7.61% for positive COVID-19 tests Tuesday. This is a decrease of 0.28 from Monday’s rate of 7.89%.
