Montgomery County COVID-19 Death Toll Nears 1,000; Maryland Surpasses 5,000

Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics

The Maryland Department of Health reported 341 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Tuesday morning. The county’s cumulative case count is 40,062. The number of daily new cases has been above 300 for the twelth consecutive day.

The county has a rolling seven-day average of 6.3% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is an increase of 0.37 from Monday’s average rate of 5.93%. The county’s positivity rate is lower than in 17 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions.

Montgomery County recorded 10 new coronavirus-related fatalities Tuesday, bringing the death toll to 990.

Montgomery County leads the state in total COVID-19 related fatalities. Prince George’s County has 972 fatalities and the most coronavirus cases in the state with 48,232 cases.

Maryland COVID-19 Statistics

Tuesday the state recorded 2,401 new infections. This is the 15th consecutive day the state recorded more than two thousand new cases in one day. The state’s cumulative case count is 239,362.

COVID-19 related hospitalizations continue to climb. On Tuesday, the state reported 1,799 patients were hospitalized across the state with the virus. This is the highest number of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic

Tuesday the state recorded 61 newly reported deaths, bringing the state death toll to 5,039. The state has not reported this many deaths in one day since May.

The state reported a rolling seven-day average of 7.53% for positive COVID-19 tests Tuesday. This is an increase of 0.07 from Monday’s rate of 7.46%.
