Montgomery County Celebrates Diwali Holiday (VIDEO & PHOTOS)
Montgomery County’s annual Diwali celebration was held Wednesday, Oct. 28th at the Executive Office Building in Rockville.
Known as the “Festival of Lights,” Diwali is a holiday observed worldwide between mid-October and mid November by people of Indian and South Asian heritage. The observance marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year and celebrates the victory of good over evil and light over darkness.
The free, community program featured remarks, a lamp-lighting ceremony, Indian dances and a reception with light refreshments.
