Montgomery County and Maryland COVID-19 Cases See Largest Daily Increase
Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics
As of Friday, the Maryland Department of Health reports 4,754 cases of COVID-19 in Montgomery County, which is an increase of 454 cases from 4,300 reported Thursday. This is the largest increase in cases in a 24 hour period since the start of the outbreak.
The health department reports that 236 county residents have died from COVID-19. This is an increase of seven deaths since Thursday. The number of probable deaths is 26.
There are 1,099 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in residents and staff of senior living facilities and 148 deaths in the county.
Maryland COVID-19 Statistics
As of Friday morning, there were 23,472 confirmed cases throughout the state. That is an increase of 1,730 cases in the last 24 hours. This is the largest daily increase in cases since the start of the outbreak.
In Maryland, 4,718 people have been hospitalized since the outbreak of COVID-19. This is an increase of 159.
Throughout the state, 1,668 hospital beds are being used for COVID-19 patients. Of that total, 1,100 beds are for acute care and 568 are in an intensive care unit.
A total of 8,093 cases and 436 deaths involve the state’s African American community.
There have been 4,919 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 554 deaths in nursing homes and assisted living facilities throughout the state. This number includes residents and staff.

Correction: The number of cases and deaths in senior living facilities in Montgomery County was corrected. Initially, the Maryland Department of Health reported a total of 1,203 cases in residents and staff and 164 deaths in the county. The report included counts from three facilities twice, which was corrected in Saturday’s report.
