Montgomery County 7-Day Testing Positive Rate Lower Than Statewide Average
Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics
Friday morning the Maryland Department of Health reported 18,819 cases of COVID-19 in Montgomery County, which is a 0.36% increase from the 18,752 cases reported Thursday.
Since the first case in March, 769 county residents have died from COVID-19. This is an increase of one death since Thursday, according to the health department. The number of probable deaths is 39.
More Montgomery County residents have died due to COVID-19 than any other jurisdiction in the state. Prince George’s has lost 743 residents, the second-highest number in the state.
The seven-day rolling average for test positivity, according to the state health department, is 3.2%. Montgomery County is behind the following jurisdictions when it comes to seven-day test positivity rate: Allegheny (3.74%), Baltimore (3.93%), Baltimore City (4.59%), Charles (4.53%), Prince George’s (5.77%), Queen Anne’s (4.2%), and Wicomico (3.52%). It has the same seven-day positivity rate as Talbot County.

Maryland COVID-19 Statistics
As of Friday morning, there have been 98,875 confirmed cases throughout the state. That is an increase of 715 cases, or 0.73%, in the last 24 hours. COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 3,495 Marylanders, 12 since Thursday.
Currently, 457 Marylanders are hospitalized with COVID-19, which is 13 fewer than Thursday. Of those patients, 107 are in intensive care.
The state’s seven-day rolling average for test positivity is 3.63%. On Thursday, Maryland saw its lowest test positivity rate of 3.49%.
A total of 31,356 cases and 1,433 deaths involve the state’s African American community.
