Montgomery Council Schedules Public Hearings on Fiscal 2019 Budget Proposal

Five public hearings on County Executive Ike Leggett’s proposed fiscal 2019 budget have been scheduled from April 10 through April 12, according to a  Montgomery County Council statement said Wednesday. More than 150 people are expected to express views about specific items and the general structure of the budget.

Leggett presented his recommended operating budget to the council March 14. Over the next two months, the council and its six committees will analyze the recommendations and will adopt a budget in late May.  The budget will take effect on July 1.

The public hearings will be:

  • 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10;
  • 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11; and
  • 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 12.

All hearings will take place in the Third Floor Hearing Room of the Council Office Building at 100 Maryland Ave., Rockville.

The hearings will be will be televised live by County Cable Montgomery (CCM). The channel can be viewed on Cable Channels 996 (high definition) and 6 (standard definition) on Comcast; Channels 1056 (HD) and 6 (SD) on RCN; and Channel 30 on Verizon.

For residents who speak a language other than English, special arrangements for interpretation services can be made for either those testifying or those attending. Arrangements must be made at least 72 hours in advance at 240-777-7803.
