Montgomery College DEA Forum Focuses on Minority Relations
The theme is “creating new possibilities” through “transformation,” and the Drug Enforcement Administration hopes to do just that with it’s 3rd annual Minority College Relations Student Forum at Montgomery College.
The DEA’s Equal Employment Opportunity Staff and its Minority College Relations Program (MCRP) is sponsoring its third annual student forum on April 30, hosted by Montgomery College in Rockville.
“It will help them get a better understanding of what a federal career is like,” said Angela Coleman, the program manager of the Equal Opportunity staff at the Drug Enforcement Administration.
The event targets students from high schools, minority colleges and universities as well as institutions for individuals with disabilities. The forum will provide students the opportunity to gain information from a panelist of DEA employees and guest speakers.
Breakout sessions will also be held with representatives from other federal law enforcement agencies and components including the FBI, the Secret Service, and the IRS.
The forum had 70 registered students its first year in 2012 and now has grown to more than 250 registered students for its third year.
“I think the theme speaks for itself,” Coleman said. “We’re Creating new opportunities by being with the students versus just giving out information guiding them through the process.”
