MC Alum Win Helen Hayes Awards (Video)
Five Montgomery College (MC) alum were nominated for the 2013 Helen Hayes Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Live Theater in the Washington area. Congratulations to Priscilla Cuellar and Matthew Nielson for winning a Helen Hayes Award at the ceremony on April 9. Theatre Professor and Co-Chair Susan Hoffman talks about the Helen Hayes awards. The five Montgomery County alum nominated include:
- Paul Scanlan – Outstanding Lead Actor, Resident Musical for Spring Awakening at The Keegan Theatre
- Priscilla Cuellar – Outstanding Supporting Acress, Resident Musical for Legally Blonde the Musical at Toby’s Dinner Theatre
- Jenny Cartney – Outstanding Musical Direction, Resident Production for Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris at MetroStage
- Matthew Nielson – Outstanding Sound Design, Resident Production for The Illusion at Forum Theatre
- Lawrence Munsey – Outstanding Costume Design, Resident Production for The Color Purple at Toby’s Dinner Theatre
