Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics
Since Friday, Dec. 18, the Maryland Department of Health has reported 999 new cases of COVID-19 in Montgomery County—314 Saturday, 294 Sunday and 391 Monday. The county’s cumulative case count is 42,171.
Montgomery County recorded seven new coronavirus-related fatalities since Friday, Dec. 18—two Saturday, one Sunday and four Monday—bringing the death toll to 1,019.
The county has a rolling seven-day average of 6.15% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is an increase of 0.02 from Sunday’s average rate of 6.13%. The county’s positivity rate is lower than in 18 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions.
The county leads the state in total COVID-19 related fatalities but not in total cases; Prince George’s County has 1,010 fatalities and the most coronavirus cases in the state with 50,643 cases. Allegany County in the western region of the state has the most cases per capita at 72 cases per 1,000 residents.

Since Friday, Dec. 18, the state recorded 6,530 new infections—2,201 Saturday, 2,054 Sunday, and 2,265 Monday. This is the 21st consecutive day the state recorded more than two thousand new daily cases. The state’s cumulative case count is 253,073.
COVID-19 related hospitalizations are at the highest number since May. On Monday, the state reported 1,676 patients were hospitalized across the state with the virus.
Maryland recorded 114 new coronavirus-related fatalities since Friday, Dec. 18—54 Saturday, 37 Sunday and 23 Monday—bringing the death toll to 5,302.
The state reported a rolling seven-day average of 7.72% for positive COVID-19 tests Monday. This is an increase of 0.04 from Sunday’s rate of 7.68%.
