MoCo’s Got Talent Student Winners Announced

More than 160 students participated in the MoCo’s Got Talent finals Sunday, June 9th at The Fillmore. The annual talent show features middle and high school students in the visual and performing arts.

Congratulations to the five first-place winners including vocalist Jeanne Lubika, the band Karousel, dancer Ankit Guliani, artist Mya Simpson, and artist Larisa Kachko.

Performing arts winners earned prize packages, including studio recording time, gift certificates for supplies to support their art, and an invitation to participate in the Silver Spring Summer Concert Series and the Wheaton Arts Parade.

Visual arts winners were awarded prize packages, including gift certificates for supplies to support their art, a recreation gift certificate, an exhibit at BlackRock Arts Center, and an invitation to participate in the Wheaton Arts Parade.

The five first-place winners of 2019 are:

First Place Dance Winner

Ankit Guliani of John F. Kennedy High School won a prize package including $100 for dance supplies, a professional choreography consultation, and performance opportunities at the Wheaton Arts Parade & Festival.

First Place Musician/Band Winner

The band Karousel with students at Quince Orchard High School, Wootton High School, and Ridgeview Middle School won a prize package including studio recording coaching and time and performance opportunities at the Silver Spring Concert Series and the Wheaton Arts Parade & Festival.

First Place Vocalist Winner

Jeanne Lubika of Clarksburg High School won a prize package including vocal coaching and studio recording time and performance opportunities at the Silver Spring Concert Series and the Wheaton Arts Parade & Festival.

First Place Visual Arts Winner — Middle School
Mya Simpson of Rosa Parks Middle School won a prize package including $100 towards art supplies, an exhibit at Black Rock Center for the Arts, an art class gift certificate from Montgomery County Recreation, and an invitation to the Wheaton Arts Parade & Festival.

First Place Visual Arts Winner — High School
Larisa Kachko of Sherwood High School won a prize package including $100 towards art supplies, an exhibit at Black Rock Center for the Arts, an art class gift certificate from Montgomery County Recreation, and an invitation to Wheaton Arts Parade & Festival.
