MoCo Recreation Department Releases Holiday Event Guide

The Montgomery County Department of Recreation has released its holiday event guide for the month of December.  Events are free unless otherwise noted, according to a news release.

For events with an activity number, register online at ActiveMontgomery.org with the registration number.

Dec. 8: Holiday Puppet Show 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Holiday puppet show with door prizes, snacks, and refreshments. For children ages 4 and under. In person, advance registration is required.

Dec. 8: Holiday Night Out and Concert 6 p.m.to 10 p.m. 
This event features music at Long Branch Community Center with an option to have your photo taken with Santa ($10 per person).  Activity number 44644.

Dec. 9: Winter Wonderland 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
An afternoon of holiday games, a puppet show and more. Donations of toys, canned food or gently worn clothes will be accepted. Registration encouraged. Activity number 35783.

Dec. 9: Winter at Longwood 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Skating, moon bounce and photo booth. Warm up with hot chocolate and enjoy a visit from a popular snowman. Children 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Registration encouraged. Activity number 44652.

Dec. 11: Winter Concert begins at 1 p.m. 
Enjoy a collection of songs from the Sing your Best participants who share their talented voices while performing as the Holiday Park Singers.

Dec. 12: 55+ Active Adults Holiday Luncheon 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
This holiday luncheon will feature Frank Sinatra impersonator Steve Flynn. $10 per person. Registration required. Activity number 44349.

Dec. 13:  Santa’s Workshop 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Activities will include crafts, theatrical performances, holiday demonstrations, a hot chocolate bar, outdoor ice skating, headphone silent disco and a visit from Santa. A Toys for Tots and canned food drive is part of the event. Registration encouraged. Activity number 46004.

Dec. 14:  Holiday Party 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. 
A community gathering that will include light refreshments and a toast to the New Year.

Dec. 14:  Multicultural Holiday Extravaganza 1 to 3 p.m.
This event is a chance to share holiday traditions, stories, dances and dishes from your native land to showcase what makes Montgomery County culturally unique during this festive time of the year.

Dec. 15:  Winter Wonderland on Ice 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Dec. 15:  Potomac After Hours – Winter Party

Dec. 16:  Holiday Fair & Puppet Show

Dec. 22:  Holiday Party with DJ Tyzer
