Melania Trump Celebrates Valentine’s Day at The Children’s Inn at NIH
First Lady Melania Trump celebrated Valentine’s Day in Bethesda at The Children’s Inn at NIH.
It’s the third consecutive year Trump has spent the holiday meeting with children undergoing clinical treatments for serious illnesses and rare diseases at The Inn.
Trump was greeted at The Inn by 11-year-old Lucy Wiese, of Midlothian, Va., who was cured of Jobs disease thanks to a clinical trial at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). Lucy escorted the First Lady to decorate cookies and Valentine’s with the other children and families staying at The Inn.
Amber Negrete, 10, of San Jose, Calif., has met the First Lady all three years she’s visited The Inn. Trump remembered Amber and greeted her using her first name both this year and last year.
“The First Lady smell good and [is] very tall,” Amber said.

In a statement, Jennie Lucca, CEO of The Children’s Inn at NIH, thanked the First Lady for visiting children at The Inn.
“We’ve come to look forward to her visit every year. Mrs. Trump brings a delightful experience for our families and awareness to the much-needed medical research happening here at the NIH,” Lucca said.
