MCPS Use School Buses to Distribute Free Meals

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) used school buses to distribute free meals to students between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m on Friday.

The free meals help youth who cannot get food from school, as schools are closed due to the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak. It also helps families who may be experiencing financial hardship.

The meals were distributed at several locations like schools and shopping centers. Montgomery County Councilmember Craig Rice said the service will be ongoing Monday-Friday. A list of times and locations for school bus delivery can be found here: MCPS.

Also, MCPS said children up to 18 years old can come pick up free meals Monday through Friday at other locations in a grab-and-go format. A list of those times and locations can be found here: Emergency Closure Meals Service for MCPS Students. 

At around 11 a.m., an MCPS school bus rolled into the parking lot of Great Seneca Creek Elementary School in Germantown, meeting a long line of people.
