MCPS Teacher Killed in Single-Car Crash in Olney

A Montgomery County Public Schools teacher died in a single-vehicle crash in Olney on Sunday morning, according to a Montgomery County police statement.

Police identified the driver as Bradley Nolan Watts, 38, of the 18700 block of Olney Mill Road in Olney. Watts had been with the school system since 2003, most recently as a central office teacher with Interim Instructional Services, MCPS spokeswoman Gboyinde Onijala said.

Watts was formerly assistant principal at Meadow Hall Elementary School in Rockville, Onijala said.

Watts’ car, a gray 2007 Toyota Corolla, struck a utility pole about 2:45 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Bowie Mill and Cashell roads, police said. Watts died from his injuries at the scene.

Police said the Corolla was traveling northbound on Bowie Mill Road approaching Cashell Road, when for reasons still under investigation, the Corolla left the roadway and struck a utility pole.

The crash remains an ongoing investigation.  Anyone with information regarding this collision is urged to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
