MCPS Superintendent Recognizes NAACP Scholarship Winners
In a memo sent to the Montgomery County Board of Education, Montgomery County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Jack Smith recognized ten high school students awarded scholarships by The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Montgomery County Branch.
Students were awarded $1000 scholarships at the NAACP’s 42nd Annual Freedom Fund Dinner, an event that recognizes the positive contributions made by African American students to both their schools and the community.
Below are a list of award winners:
- Charnnette Bailey, James Hubert Blake High School
- Menelik Demissie, Gaithersburg High School
- James D’Souza, Rockville High School
- Kahlil Greene, Poolesville High School
- John Milton, Richard Montgomery High School
- Jordan Robinson, Col. Zadok Magruder High School
- Jasmine Scott, Montgomery Blair High School
- Marlonna Stephenson, James Hubert Blake High School
- Mehlat Tesfaye, Springbrook High School
- Tuador Wikina, Northwest High School
