MCPS Students Are Up to the 5th Grade Challenge (PHOTOS & VIDEO)
It was a night of science, mathematics, and reading questions on April 20 at the annual “Are You Up to the 5th Grade Challenge?”
The AFI Silver was the stage for questions about the Declaration of Independence, Henri Rousseau, closed circuits, and synonyms. Students from 39 Montgomery County Public Schools helped three contestants who were put to the test to win money for schools in need.
Robin Puttock, an architect; Crisa Stanley, a commercial real estate banker; and Mark Drury, a construction executive, each had the chance to win $4000. They tested their knowledge of facts from the 5th grade MCPS curriculum.

The night of educational fun was hosted by the Montgomery County Public Schools Educational Foundation- an organization founded in 1988 that supports MCPS staff in projects to enhance students experience and provides grants for technology and academic-enriching program, among others.
The audience also had the chance to see a performance from the Silver Spring International Middle School Jaguar Jazz Ensemble.
