MCPS Student Named in Discovery Education Challenge
A Robert Frost Middle School student is among the 10 finalists in the 2015 Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge.
Iris Gupta, a rising seventh-grade student, is scheduled compete for the title of “America’s Top Young Scientist” on Oct. 12 to 13 and can win a $25,000 prize at 3M headquarters in Minnesota.
Middle school students created a short video describing a new, innovative solution that could solve or impact an everyday problem.
The contest is a partnership between Discovery Education and 3M that encourages the exploration of science and innovation and promotes the importance of science communication.
According to a news release, Gupta’s invention explores the use of nanoparticles to block, and ultimately stop, allergens at their source.
