MCPS Proposes Three Calendar Options for Next School Year

The Montgomery County Public Schools created three calendar scenarios for the 2022-2023 school year. After public comment and discussion by Board of Education members, the new calendar will be adopted Dec. 2.

All three calendars bring back a full-length spring break. All three options call for no school on Sept. 26, Oct. 5, Dec. 23 and June 19.

In the first scenario, school begins Tuesday, Aug. 30 and ends on Thursday, June 15. Spring break begins the Friday before Easter, and winter break runs from Dec. 26 through Jan. 2.

In the second calendar, school begins after Labor Day on Sept. 5 and runs through June 22. Winter break goes from Friday, Dec. 23 and school starts back up again on Jan. 2. Spring break starts the Friday before Easter.

In the final proposed calendar, school begins Aug. 30 and ends June 15. Winter break runs from Dec. 26 through Jan. 2. Spring break begins on the Monday after Easter.

All calendars include days of the holidays recognized by MCPS and professional development days.

Arcola and Roscoe Nix elementary schools will continue as year-round schools.

These calendars will be presented to the school board at its next meeting on Oct. 26.
