MCPS Hopeful Vaccines Will Instill Confidence for Students’ and Teachers’ Return to School

Montgomery County Public Schools delayed the return to in-person instruction until March 15, 2021 because specific health metrics have not been met.

MCPS Superintendent Dr. Jack Smith held a virtual media briefing on Wednesday to discuss the plan for students’ return to in-person learning. School district officials shared their COVID-19 vaccination plan. People under the age of 18 have not been approved for the vaccine yet. School system employees are currently among Group 1B in the county’s vaccination plan.

“MCPS has been greatly appreciative for working with county health officials on rolling out the vaccination plan for our educators. Our hope is that by the earliest…the end of January, we will be able to begin that process,” said MCPS Deputy Superintendent Monfia McKnight during the briefing.

MyMCMedia tuned in to the briefing.
