MCPS Asking Parents, Guardians For Preferences on Summer School Programs
MCPS is seeking parents’ and guardians’ input on this year’s upcoming summer school programs through a recently released survey.
Despite the school year having ended early due to COVID-19, MCPS is still planning to offer various summer school programs to elementary and secondary students. According to a statement by MCPS, students will be able to participate in “regional, school-based, and other districtwide programs. We have thousands of staff members who are ready to teach and engage what we anticipate will be a significant number of students through our summer programs.”
Programs will apparently be provided on a “rolling basis” and feedback from parents and guardians will play a role in determining if additional programs will be instituted over the course of the summer. The start date for most summer programs is July 13.
The survey asks parents and guardians for their opinions on range of concerns surrounding summer school programs, such as their duration and the use of live instruction.
MCPS has stated that it plans on providing principals, teachers and the community with more information on summer school programs throughout the coming week. The survey can be accessed here and is available until June 12.
