MCPL Staff Using Lights, Cameras & Book Action to Help Combat Digital Illiteracy (VIDEO)

Staff from Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) teamed up with Montgomery Community Media early Thursday to learn the art of lights and cameras in an effort to combat digital illiteracy.

In 2016, Montgomery Community Media was awarded a $25,000 grant by the NBCUniversal Foundation and NBC Washington for creating an innovative program that would implement change in local communities.

MCM will use the money to expand its popular backpack journalism program into the local libraries.  Economically disadvantaged students will have an opportunity to use the skills they learned from the backpack journalism program to share personal book reviews on multimedia platforms.
