MCPD Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Hit and Run Collision in Silver Spring

The Montgomery County Police Department is investigating a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run that occurred very early Sunday morning in Silver Spring.

It was almost 1 a.m. when Takoma Park Police Department officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel responded to the call, according to a MCPD press release. The vehicle -which the police described to possibly be a light-colored sedan – was travelling north on Carroll Avenue when it struck Wilmar Gomez Gonzalez, 24, who was standing in the roadway. The vehicle left the area, and Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives are asking anyone who might have witnessed the collision to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at (240) – 773 – 6620. Callers may remain anonymous.
