MCM Joins Hundreds of Journalists at NMAAHC Media Preview Day (VIDEO & PHOTOS)
More than 600 journalists from around the country had the opportunity to view the architectural majesty and moving exhibits of the new National Museum of African American History & Culture (NMAAHC) on Media Preview Day. Montgomery Community Media was there to capture the remarks of Smithsonian secretary David Skorton, museum founding director Lonnie Bunch and guest curator Spencer Crew.
The museum will open to the public on Saturday, September 24, after a dedication ceremony with President Barack Obama. The 400,000-square foot building at 14th Street and Constitution Avenue stands in a prime location on The National Mall within view of the Washington Monument. MyMCMedia’s Phyllis Armstrong, Nick Rhule and Michael Cohen toured most of the $540 million facility. We will have more on the new museum next week, including an interview with the executive chef of the Sweet Home Cafe and details about a log house moved to the museum from Montgomery County.
