Matuto Performs at BlackRock in Germantown (VIDEO)

Matuto, a touring group from New York City, will perform their unique blend of Brazilian and American music Saturday, July 11 at BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown. Learn about Matuto in this NPR profile.

Rolling drums and quicksilver accordion licks, earthy vibes and thoughtful reflections mingle on Maturo’s latest refinement of their Appalachia-gone-Afro-Brazilian sound, The Devil and The Diamond. The album draws on Brazil’s folkloric rhythms like forro and coco, and on deep Americana – from bluegrass to spirituals to swamp jams.

This concert is part of BlackRock’s outdoor summer concerts. The free concerts take place on Saturday evenings from now through July 25 on the front lawn at address. All concerts begin at 7 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and non-alcoholic refreshments and picnics. In the case of inclrement weather, the concert will move inside to the BlackRock Mainstage.
