Maryland Requires Updated Immunizations for Fall Semester

Students attending Maryland schools must have up-to-date immunization records

County public schools welcome back students with virtual-only learning on Monday, Aug. 31. Montgomery County health officials are reminding parents that the Maryland Department of  Health requires students to have up-to-date immunizations.  Parents must submit their student’s immunization records by the first day of school. If this requirement is not met, starting Monday, Sept. 20 students may not attend classes.

The list of vaccine requirements may be found on the Maryland Health Department’s website, here.

Parents can access their child’s vaccination record online at the Maryland Department of Health’s web portal. They can view and print official copies of vaccination records without a request to their health care provider.

Children with private health coverage should contact their primary health care provider to schedule an appointment for the required immunizations.

Students new to the public schools and children in kindergarten through 12th grade can schedule an immunization appointment Monday through Friday at a county health center in Silver Spring and Germantown.

Students 18 and younger must meet at least one of the following criteria to be eligible for free immunizations through the county:

  • Child does not have health insurance
  • Child is covered by Medical Assistance
  • Child has health insurance that does not cover vaccines
  • Child is Alaskan Native or American Indian

Appointments are available at:

  • Dennis Avenue Health Center
    2000 Dennis Avenue
    Silver Spring
    Phone: 240-777-1050
  • Germantown Health Center
    12900 Middlebrook Road
    Germantown
    Phone: 240-777-3380

There will also be two clinics prior to the Sept. 20 deadline offered by the County’s health services. The clinics will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12 and Sept. 19 at the Dennis Avenue Health Center.
