Maryland Ranked Fourth Most Charitable State by WalletHub

Pile of hands isolated on white, Caucasian, African American, Hispanic race.

Maryland is ranked the fourth most charitable state according to finance website WalletHub.

WalletHub based its rankings on 13 key metrics including; volunteer rate, community service requirement for high school graduation, number of public charities per capita, percentage of sheltered homeless, and number of Feeding America Food Banks per capita.

Of those metrics, Maryland ranked; first for percentage of population who donated money, 18th for volunteer rate, 19th for number of charities per capita, 21st for percentage of donate income, 21st for number of volunteer hours per capita, and 26th for percentage of population who claim to have donated time.

Ahead of Maryland, Utah ranked first, Minnestoa ranked second, and North Dakota ranked third.
