Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has issued a statement asking federal authorities to cease any additional settlements of refugees from Syria to Maryland because of public safety concerns.

You can read the governor’s statement, below:

“As governor of Maryland, the safety and security of Marylanders remains my first priority. Following the terrorist attacks on Paris just four days ago, and after careful consideration, I am now requesting that federal authorities cease any additional settlements of refugees from Syria in Maryland until the U.S. government can provide appropriate assurances that refugees from Syria pose no threat to public safety.”

Your comments are racist and do not conform to what the majority wants. One-term governor only.

I am very sad to see this decision from the governor. I do not believe it is the view of most Marylanders. we need to open our doors to the refugees not turn them away based on irrational fear. please reconsider!

Agree with Naomi– this is not a decision most Marylanders would want.
This is why it is so important to know the candidates and VOTE.

I am a Marylander, and we do not want to reject the doors of Maryland to anyone, but when there is an issue of public security and protection we need to make a stand against it. The Syrian refugees may mot f imposed a threat in the past but in this world where people heads are being cut off, we never know what tomorrow have to bring. I`m not a racist to any race, and I don`t think that Syrians that don`t impose a threat should be denied. This country was made on immigration, but bringing potential terrorist over will, hurt this country.

THANK YOU Governor Hogan. The job of government is to PROTECT the people who elected you into office. There are many Marylanders who could use a hand up. I find it MOST interesting while our country is debating this issue; folks in the Middle East (where MOST countries are FAR RICHER than ours) are NOT “taking in” their own. You have MY continued support AND VOTE! Again, I say, THANK YOU!
