Maryland COVID-19 Hospitalizations Remain Above 400 for Third Day, Montgomery Cases Increase by 70
Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics
Thursday morning the Maryland Department of Health reported 16,056 cases of COVID-19 in Montgomery County, which is an increase of 70 from the 15,986 cases reported Wednesday.
Since the first case in March, 725 county residents have died from COVID-19. There were no new deaths in the last 24 hours. More Montgomery County residents have died due to COVID-19 than any other jurisdiction in the state. Prince George’s has lost 696 residents, the second-highest number.
The positivity rate of 3.95% reported Thursday is a decrease of 0.04% since Wednesday. This is the second day the rate dropped below 4% and the eighth day the rate has remained below 5%.

As of Thursday morning, there have been 75,664 confirmed cases throughout the state. That is an increase of 648 in the last 24 hours. COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 3,215 Marylanders, six since Wednesday.
Currently, 436 Marylanders are hospitalized with COVID-19, which is 11 fewer than Wednesday. Of the 436 patients currently hospitalized, 137 are in intensive care, which is eight more than Wednesday.
The health department reported a testing positivity rate of 4.61% Thursday. This is an increase of 0.12% from Wednesday’s rate of 4.49%. The rate has remained below 5% since June 25th.
Statewide, a total of 22,000 cases and 1,308 deaths involve the state’s African American community.
