Maryland COVID-19 Hospitalizations Continue to Rise
Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics
Monday morning the Maryland Department of Health reported 16,433 cumulative cases of COVID-19 in Montgomery County, which is an increase of 61 from the 16,373 cases reported Sunday.
Since the first case in March, 734 county residents have died from COVID-19. This is an increase of four since Sunday. More Montgomery County residents have died due to COVID-19 than any other jurisdiction in the state. Prince George’s has lost 700 residents, the second-highest number.
The positivity rate of 3.61% reported Monday is an increase of 0.03% since Sunday. The is the sixth straight day the rated remained below 4%.
Maryland COVID-19 Statistics
As of Monday morning, there have been 78,685 confirmed cases throughout the state. That is an increase of 554 in the last 24 hours. COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 3,252 Marylanders, five since Sunday.
Currently, 463 Marylanders are hospitalized with COVID-19, which is 14 more than Sunday. This is the most patients hospitalized since June 27. Of the patients currently hospitalized, 136 are in intensive care, which is five more than Sunday.
The health department reported a testing positivity rate of 4.5% Monday. This is an increase of 0.04% from Sunday’s rate of 4.46%. The rate has remained below 5% for more than three weeks.
Statewide, a total of 23,092 cases and 1,327 deaths involve the state’s African American community.
