Maryland Becomes First State to Start Senior Call Check Program

The Maryland Department of Aging has started a free senior call check program for the state’s older residents.

Maryland is the first state in the United States to begin a call program for the state’s older residents. Senior Call Check is a free, opt-in telephone service to check on residents 65 and older. Telephone calls will be placed to participants at regularly scheduled times, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. If the participant does not answer the first call, they will be tried two more times. If they go unanswered, additional calls will be made to notify a person who is selected by the participant during the program enrollment.

Senior residents can call 1-866-50-CHECK (1-866-502-4325) or register online at aging.maryland.gov
