Marilyn J. Praisner Library in Burtonsville to Reopen Saturday

Montgomery County Public Libraries announced that it’s reopening its Marilyn J. Praisner branch in Burtonsville on Saturday, Nov. 16.

The branch had been closed since April for renovations. County officials say the refreshed library “includes new ergonomic sit-stand circulation, information, and self-checkout desks; renovation of the public restrooms; new painting and flooring; replacement of ceiling tiles; rearrangement of shelving and seating within the library; upgraded lighting with improved energy-efficient, and brighter, LED lamps; new furniture; dual-drinking fountain with bottle-filling station; and new window shades in the meeting rooms.”

To celebrate its reopening, County Executive Marc Elrich is inviting the public to attend a ribbon-cutting at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 16 at Marilyn J. Praisner Library, located at 14910 Old Columbia Pike. Marilyn J. Praisner’s chapter of Friends of the Library will provide refreshments for attendees to enjoy after the ceremony.

According to county officials, the renovations were partially funded by County Library Capital Grant Program, Maryland State Library, as authorized by the Maryland General Assembly and supported by the Montgomery County Delegation.
