Marcus Johnson & the Urban Jam Band Perform at Strathmore (Video)

Marcus Johnson and the Urban Jam Band perform Feb. 14 at 8 p.m. at the Music Center at Strathmore, 5301 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda. Local jazz musician, Johnson blends a mixture of contemporary jazz, alternative and rhytm and blues. Tickets are $26 – $60 and may be purchased by calling 301.581.5100 or online at the Strathmore website.

Johnson independently released his first album, the jazz tinged Lessons in Love, in 1995 while pursuing both his MBA and Juris doctorate degrees at Georgetown University. The album sold more than 40,000 units. To date, Johnson has released 15 albums, and has the distinction of having his Billboard Top 20 Contemporary Jazz FLO CDs—FLO Chill, FLO Romance and FLO Standards—all charting in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz charts simultaneously. While he is rooted in “Urban Groove,” Johnson continues to expand as an artist, experimenting with the sounds of the “Euro Jazz” with Parisian producer disc jockey Pulse, as the duo Juris.

Reservations are also available for a pre-concert Valentine’s Dinner from 6-7:15 p.m. in the Mansion at Strathmore includes a four course meal and complimentary Champagne.
