Striving for a hunger-free Montgomery County is one of Manna Food Center’s mission, which is why they are opening an additional food pantry in Silver Spring.

The grand opening is set for Nov. 12 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in partnership with Silver Spring United Methodist Church, located at 33 University Blvd E.

Opening a new facility will allow Manna Food Center to help more families in need.

“This time of the year gets really busy because it’s getting colder, the holidays and kids are coming back home from college” said Yelba Mojica, client services manager for Manna Food Center.

According to Mojica, Manna serves roughly 4,000 families a month.

The food pantry will be open every second and fourth Saturday each month.

Organizers say they are always accepting donations.
