Man Struck by Metro Train in Bethesda (Photos & Video)
UPDATED: A man was seriously injured when he fell onto the tracks at the Bethesda Metro Station shortly before 5 p.m. on June 3.
Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Pete Piringer said the man had what appeared to be a medical emergency when he fell onto the tracks and was hit by a slow moving train that was arriving at the station.
The power was shut off while rescue crews extricated the man from the tracks.
Piringer said the man’s injuries are serious and life threatening. The injured man was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. His identity has not been released.
The man checked himself out of the hospital on Tuesday evening (June 3), according to Metro spokesperson Morgan Dye.
