A 37-year-old Silver Spring man has been charged with indecent exposure and trying to abduct two children, according to a statement from Montgomery County police.

Jemberu Bekele Geda of the 11500 block of Lockwood Drive, Silver Spring, is being held without bail, according to online court records.

The incidents were Sunday, police said. At one point, Geda exposed himself to a 13-year-old girl, police said. Later in the day, 8- and 9-year-old cousins were at a neighborhood playground when Geda grabbed them by the wrists and tried to bring them to his apartment, police said.

The boys told Geda that they did not want to go with him, and Geda let go of their wrists, police said.   After being released, the boys fled to their nearby home where they immediately told a parent about the incident, police said.

Officers found Geda at his home where he was identified as the same person who exposed himself to the girl and who tried to abduct the boys, police said.

Geda was charged with one count of indecent exposure and two counts of attempted child abduction.
