Man, 19, Found Dead in Germantown

A 19-year-old Middletown man was found dead Friday evening inside a parked car at a Germantown parking lot, according to a Montgomery County police statement.

Nicholas Ryan McGinnis was found about 6 p.m. at the Milestone Center in the 20900 block of Frederick Road by Germantown police district officers, police said. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore conducted an autopsy, but the results are pending, police said. The OCME reported no visible signs of trauma to McGinnis’ body, police said.

The man’s online obituary includes this paragraph:

“Nick lived life to the limits and his only fear was his addiction, which he fought so desperately to overcome.  His struggles with addiction were a part of his life, but they certainly did not define the wonderful person that he was.  His family’s hope is that their loss can help stop the stigma of addiction and serve as a reminder that life is fragile and addiction does not discriminate.  Nick’s family would like to thank those friends and family who always supported him.”

Police said McGinnis’ family reported him as a missing person June 4 to the Frederick County (MD) Sheriff’s Office. This remains an active death investigation and MCP Major Crimes detectives continue to coordinate with FCSO detectives during this investigation.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have information regarding the death to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070 or call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).  Callers may remain anonymous.
