Lyon Sisters Investigation Leads to Virginia (PHOTOS & VIDEO)

The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia has released a statement about an investigation taking place in the Taylor Mountain area of Bedford County that relates to the missing Lyon sisters case. You can read the statement below:
“The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, the Virginia State Police, the Bedford County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and the Montgomery County, Maryland, Police Department are jointly investigating the 1975 abduction of sisters Katherine and Shelia Lyon. Recent developments in the investigation have led law enforcement to the Taylor Mountain area of Bedford County. Anyone having information concerning this matter is asked to call 540.586.7827.”
In February of 2014, the Montgomery County Police Department and the FBI named Lloyd Lee Welch, also known as Michael Welch, as a person of interest in this case. Through investigation, detectives determined that Welch had a possible connection to Bedford County, Virginia.
Since last week, Montgomery County detectives have been in the area of Bedford County, working with the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police. Detectives are looking for evidence and gathering information that may indicate that Welch had a connection to the girls’ disappearance.
