Lottery for Farmer’s Market Checks Takes Place July 9

Montgomery County is offering a limited number of farmers market “checks” worth $30 to low-income seniors.

The checks will be distributed by lottery Tuesday, July 9 at 10 a.m..

Montgomery County residents, age 60 years and older, whose income is less than $23,107 (family of one) are eligible to participate in the lottery.

The coupons may be used at farmer’s markets in Montgomery County and participating markets in the District of Columbia until November 1st.

The lottery for the coupon books will be held at the following locations:

  • Elizabeth House, 1400 Fenwick Lane, Silver Spring
  • Benjamin Gaither Senior Center, 80A Bureau Drive, Gaithersburg
  • Holiday Park Senior Center, 3950 Ferrara Drive, Wheaton
  • Long Branch Community Center, 8700 Piney Branch Road, Silver Spring
  • Rockville Senior Center, 1150 Carnation Drive, Rockville
  • Waverly House, 4521 East West Highway, Bethesda
  • White Oak Community Center, 1700 April Lane, Silver Spring

The White Oak Community Center will host a “pop up” farmer’s market on the day of the lottery so seniors and others can shop for locally grown produce.
