Longer Library Hours

Using one of the county’s libraries is about to get even more convenient.Image of book pages to ask people to Donate Books At Gaithersburg Book Festival

Beginning Oct. 5, Montgomery County Public Libraries will be open longer, with added service hours totaling 106 hours, 9.4 percent more than in fiscal year 2014. Sixteen branches will have expanded hours, joining the five branches whose hours were increased in Fiscal year 2013. Four additional branches will have Sunday hours and staffing and materials will be increased to support the new hours.

The increases are the result of an $800,000 addition to the Fiscal Year 2015 operating budget.

County Executive Isiah Leggett will announce the expanded hours at a presentation at the Rockville Memorial Library, Sept. 9 at 11:30 a.m.

Also expected to attend are: Council President Craig Rice, Council Vice-President George Leventhal and Councilmembers Phil Andrews, Roger Berliner, Cherri Branson, Nancy Floreen and Nancy Navarro and MCPL Director Parker Hamilton as well as local library advocates and officials.
