Long Branch Library Will Temporarily Close for Refresh Project

Long Branch Library in Silver Spring will close on March 14 at 6 p. m. due to the interior and exterior renovations under the County’s award winning Library Refurbishment initiative.

The library will be closed for an estimated six to nine months.

“We look forward to welcoming the customers back to their branch this fall and hope they visit nearby branches, Silver Spring Wheaton and White Oak, and our 24/7 website while their facility is undergoing the refresh process,” Montgomery County Public Library (MCPL) Director Anita Vassallo said in a statement.

The project will include improvements to the roof, windows and doors. There will be replacements of carpets, furniture, finishes, and lighting. Also, work will be performed to bring the building into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

What to Know Before The Refresh

  • Friday, Feb. 28 will be the final day you will be able to place a hold online or with a library staff member using a pick up location of Long Branch Library.
  • Saturday, March 14 is the last day to pick up holds from the Long Branch Library. After March 14 holds must be picked up from other branches in MCPL.
  • Friday, April 3 is the last day the book drop will be available for returns at the Long Branch Library.
