Local Volunteer Honored With Cabot Community Celebrity Award
One local volunteer is getting ready for a cruise to the Caribbean, but she didn’t buy the ticket.
Theresa Testoni is one of 48 volunteers recently honored with the Cabot Community Celebrity Award.
She is the only volunteer from Montgomery County recognized this year by the organization run by the Cabot Cheese company in Vermont, and one of only two volunteers from Maryland.
The 2014 celebrities are honored with an all-expenses-paid, six-day, seven-night Caribbean cruise from Jan. 11-18 for a chance to relax and network with other volunteers across the country.
Testoni is a commissioner on the Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism of Maryland as well as Vice President of Service for the Corporate Volunteer Council of Montgomery County.
“I’m speechless and honored because certainly a huge part of my life is community service,” Testoni said. “It’s an opportunity to meet other service leaders in the country and to rest and have fun.”
She was nominated for the honor by Sarah Brunett, Executive Director of the Corporate Volunteer Council.
Testoni has a full-time job working for Adventist HealthCare and finds herself filling her spare time with more ways to give back.
“I’ll be honest I am exhausted because what I do is I work is work seven days a week,” Testoni said. “There are endless opportunities to be a leader in the County and I’m not able to do most of that during the day in my day job so I put in a lot of hours in the morning and night and the weekends.”
Impact Silver Spring congratulated Testoni on Facebook, thanking her for her service.
“Congratulations to one of our biggest supporters, Theresa Testoni, for being a recipient of the Cabot Community Celebrity Award,” the organization posted online. “If you ever want to learn how to door-knock in the network, Theresa is a pro.”
