Local Owner of The Angry Jerk Restaurant: ‘What Better Place Than To Do It In Your Backyard’

The Angry Jerk, an authentic Caribbean restaurant, is hosting a soft opening Wednesday.

The restaurant is located at 8223 Georgia Ave. in downtown Silver Spring, the previous home of The Big Greek Café.

Takoma Park native Jason Miskiri, the owner of The Angry Jerk, told MyMCM, “I love Silver Spring, I grew up in Takoma Park, I went to Montgomery Blair High School.” He added, “I just wanted to be a part of the growth that’s been happening over the past 10 to 12 years. What better place than to do it in your backyard.”

Miskiri said he expects a large turnout for their opening after a lot of buzz on social media and spoke about the meaning of opening a restaurant close to home.

“It means a lot to me. You know I’ve been sitting back thinking about how we need some authentic Caribbean flair with a little twist to it,” Miskiri told MyMCM. “So, I just came up with the name The Angry Jerk because it fits, and it would be great for Silver Spring.”

Miskiri played basketball at Blair, George Mason University and one game in the NBA in 1999 for the Charlotte Hornets.

The Angry Jerk is open seven days a week. Their hours of operation are Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday through Sunday 11 a.m. to 3 a.m.
